Our generous fosters are the heart and soul of our organization. They provide the experience, time, and knowledge needed to care for, and oftentimes rehabilitate, our birds in need in order to prepare them for their forever homes. We match our foster homes with the experience and comfort level of each volunteer, ensuring that every bird, from a budgie to a macaw, is coupled with the perfect home for their individual needs.
Prior parrot experience is not necessary. We offer a bird care 101 course to all new fosters. And, we have a network of experienced parrot owners who can help with behavior, health and questions along the way. Fostering provides you the opportunity to share your love with a variety of species of parrots.
STAR supplies the cage and pays for all medical costs. As a foster you will have access to discounted food and toys to help with the costs associated with fostering. We also have an online “market” where fosters can shop for free for their foster birds! All donated perches, toys, playstands and food are placed into the market for direct distribution to the birds.
